New Jersey recertification requirements
New Jersey EMS providers are licensed by the NJ Office of Emergency Medical Services, and the requirements differ by level. Paramedics recertify every two years with 48 hours of advanced-level continuing education — at least 36 hours across divisions two through six of the program curriculum, no more than 12 hours in division one, and a minimum of 8 hours of pediatric advanced life support content — plus current CPR, ACLS and either PALS or PEPP-Advanced certifications, a medical director's attestation of skills proficiency, and endorsement from a mobile intensive care hospital. EMTs recertify with 48 CEUs: 24 core credit hours and 24 elective credit hours. Continuing education credits do not carry forward from one recertification period to the next.
