Kentucky recertification requirements
Kentucky follows the National Registry's National Continued Competency Program (NCCP) model for renewal. KBEMS requires only the National Component: 8 hours for EMR, 20 for EMT, 25 for AEMT, and 30 for Paramedic — the Local, State, and Individual Components are not required. EMS Clinicians can renew by showing proof of current NREMT certification at their level, or by completing the NCCP National Component hours through a KBEMS-approved education entity. Any online CE must be CAPCE-accredited if not taken through a KBEMS-approved entity. Prodigy EMS is listed by KBEMS as an approved online refresher option, so CAPCE-accredited courses on Prodigy count toward your Kentucky renewal.
Kentucky specific requirements
You need proof of completing HIV/AIDS training required by KRS 311A.120 — KBEMS approved online HIV/AIDS course. Proof of completing Pediatric Abusive Head Trauma training required by KRS 311A.120 — KBEMS approved online Pediatric Abusive Head Trauma (PAHT) course. Proof of completing Awareness of Sexual Violence training required by KRS 311A.120 — KBEMS approved online Awareness of Sexual Violence (ASV) training.
