Hawaii recertification requirements
Hawaii EMS personnel (Paramedic, AEMT, EMT-Transport, and EMT-1 Non-Transport) are licensed by the Hawaii Medical Board through the DCCA Professional and Vocational Licensing Division, and every level requires a current NREMT certificate. Licenses expire on January 31 of even-numbered years regardless of when they were issued and are renewed online through your MyPVL account. Hawaii follows the NREMT NCCP model for recertification — holding a current NREMT certificate in your class satisfies the state continuing education requirement, and even if you are state certified only, you will still complete the same NREMT hours. CAPCE-approved education is accepted for the flexible NCCP components, and a current BLS for healthcare providers CPR card is also required.
